This has to be one of the best articles I’ve read this month.
Just say no
Warren Buffett once said:
The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say “no” to almost everything.
And that’s what gives them the time to accomplish so much. It has to be one of the hardest things to do. I try to support and give my time to too many people and projects. But I have learned the hard way. Sometimes no is best. Today – I have to say no to supporting my aunt’s political campaign. She needs help with PR and I have experience in that area but I just don’t have the time. Its hard to say no – but it will be best for both of us in the long run.
Know What You Are
This is very important to me on my every changing career journey. The more I progress, the more I learn about myself. Knowing who I am will improve everything.
My favourite is ‘grit’.
The best predictor of success, the researchers found, was the prospective cadets’ ratings on a noncognitive, nonphysical trait known as “grit”—defined as “perseverance and passion for long-term goals.”
Its a killer sometimes as it takes a lot of energy and perseverance but you can really see results when you dig in, work harder and use grit to keep you going.
And I’m no expert – just yet 😉
